SELCo is a subsidiary of Southern Electricity Company Ltd; a public company listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange.

SELCo, being a utility company providing a full range of services in the electricity field, specializing in distribution, management, metering, billing systems and revenue management, has a proven record as a successful service provider with various long term concessions. SELCo has been successfully operative in Southern Namibia, mainly serving the towns of Aranos, Keetmanshoop and Karasburg, since 2000 and 2001.

SELCo currently holds a 15 year concession in Namibia with full responsibility for the control and operational functions of the electricity distribution networks. This includes, but is not restricted to, funding, upgrading, maintenance, operation, distribution, billing and bulk-billing, revenue collection, customer service and staff training.

SELCo has achieved a 100% Namibian staff compliment from MD through to general workers, with South African staff only being used in the initial set-up stages of SELCo.
